PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS
In the event that a Phase I ESA indicates the presence of significant Recognized Environmental Conditions, a Phase II ESA may be recommended.
Phase II ESAs typically consist of a more "hands on" approach to determining the presence of contamination in the most likely areas of contamination (e.g., tank graves, former building areas, etc.).
Depending on Site information, a Phase II ESA could consist in part of the following:
-
A Metal Detector and Line Tracing Survey;
-
A Ground Penetrating Radar Survey;
-
Conducting Test Pits;
-
Installation of Soil Borings;
-
Installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells;
-
Installation of Soil Vapor Sample Points; and/or
-
Installation of Sub-Slab Vapor Sample Points.
The aforementioned work would facilitate the collection of soil, groundwater, and/or vapor samples for analyses at a licensed laboratory. These results would be compared to set State and/or Federal Standards.
