PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS
HEI has completed hundreds of ASTM/21-E Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) throughout New England.
These typically are conducted in an effort to determine the potential for Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and their potential to impact soil and/or groundwater at the study Site. RECs could would include the following:
-
Former use as a filling or service station;
-
Former use as a dry cleaners;
-
Undocumented underground storage tanks; and,
-
Use of floor drains and subsurface disposal structures at auto repair facilities.
The properties are researched individually utilizing state and municipal records, historic aerial databases, topographic maps, city directories, Sanborn fire insurance maps, environmental questionnaires, and other historic database records.
